L102: Conversation Pictures
This printable is designed to support oral language development through meaningful conversation and careful observation. The Conversation Pictures invite your child to slow down, look closely, and share their thoughts, ideas, and interpretations in a natural, conversational way.
This activity uses the printable conversation cards included in the pack, which can be printed double-sided. On the back, you’ll find five gentle prompts to support meaningful conversation and language development.
What’s Included
Your digital download contains:
16 Conversation picture cards
Designed to spark discussion, description, and close observation
Optional double-sided printing
With five suggested questions on the back of each card
Accompanying worksheets
Featuring new, more detailed scene illustrations
Montessori-lined handwriting space
For an adult to model handwriting by scribing the child’s observations
How This Activity Supports Language
The Conversation Pictures help children:
expand vocabulary and expressive language
practise describing what they see and think
develop confidence in sharing ideas aloud
strengthen observation and attention to detail
experience language in a relaxed, conversational way
Using the Worksheets
As a gentle extension to the Conversation Pictures, the worksheets feature a scene at the top and lined space below. They are not intended for the child to write independently. Instead, the adult acts as a scribe, recording the child’s spoken words, thoughts, or observations using Montessori-lined handwriting paper.
This process offers a meaningful introduction to the connection between spoken and written language, showing the child how their ideas can be transformed into written words - without turning the experience into a formal writing lesson.
